My husband and I are currently going through a class with family finders to foster and possibly adopt. They have lots of older children for adoption. My friends tell me that losing child after child would hurt me so badly and I agree, but I do believe that if i can live through losing my very own baby and be a healthy, strong, and happy person then I can give that to more children who may not get a taste of it at all. even if it's only for a moment.

Yes it can have its rollercoasters as well. I have been told maybe I should not do fostercare because it hurts me to much to see them go, but someday maybe I will get to adopt one of them as my own, and there is the difference you make in these tiny little lifes that makes it all worth it. Plus think of it this way, if you keep in touch with them, via visits, birthday cards, holidays and etc... You not only have one child but several. Extended family. Some children are harder to let go then others and those are the ones who tear you apart when they have to leave you, but as long as you are a foster parent you can spread your love to all those who do come into your care and make a difference in your life until you finally can adopt one as your own, which is what we are still waiting to do. We have 2 little girls in particular we would absolutely love to adopt and they have been placed with us twice now just to have them taken away again. Their mother is just a teenager and she has been given several chances and my only hope lies in that someday soon they may still be mine. I love them with all my heart and would do anything for them. I would take any time I can get with them whether it be a moment, an hour, just whatever it may be. I pray everyday that God would send me these two little girls to adopt and if they do not become available then to please send me a child or children that I can love just as much.

my husband and I could not concieve we went through the foster and adoption program in louisiana and recieve 2 babies within a year. we was told if we risk having a foster child our chances to keep that child was great . therefore we talke about it and took in a 4 month old little girl she is now ours by the grace of GOD 6 months later they called and ask did we want to foster a new born baby boy we said yes we are now in the process of doing his paper work after the holidays. the hard thing about being foster parents is that you must do visits with the parents for a year unless they show no interest in the child.the worker can go before the judge and state the parents are not doing their family plan according to state regulations. hang in there God has a plan for you and your family the right child have not come along yet. you are in our prayers

Anyone wanting to adopt should go to Adopt America. They have foster children waiting for homes all over the country. Get your home study and send a copy of it to Karen or one of the other adoption specialist. They will take care of you at no charge. The only thing you will have to pay for is court cost and most of the time that will even be covered with the adoption assistance. I am fed up with Alabama and am looking in other states. Alabama has caused us nothing but grief. You may even get a child that is as young as one and a half to two years old depending on how open you are to special needs. Good Luck.
