Homestudy Costs
I have begun researching adoption agencies & homestudy agencies and have found that the adoption agency quotes for homestudy should be approx $1000-$1500. I have not found a homestudy agency here in WI (Racine County) that is less than $4000. The adoption agencies itemize out the post studies, but even factoring those into the WI homestudy quotes (most include post adoption study) WI still seems to be higher than the national average. Does anyone know why WI is so high? Am I looking in the wrong place? I have checked out Catholic Social Services, Lutheran Family Services & (Evangelical?) Lutheran Family Services, which was the best price by a little, so I appologize for not having the name exactly right. Has any one found a better price? I am looking into international infant adoption from Guatemala, but am keeping domestic adoption open.

Homestudy
I am from Racine county and I am using Catholoc Charities.
The cost is $3500 for the Homestudy and the the price is tentative for the post adoption. We went with Catholic Charities because they didn't charge us an application fee. We didn't feel as though we would be using them for anything else but the Homestudy due to the fact that we are adopting from Ukraine and they seem to offer help for birthparents and domestic adoption help. So far we are happy. We are hoping the Homestudy will be done by the end of March. That would be 6 weeks. If you have any questions... please feel free to e-mail me. home study costs
We had our home study done with Paquette Childrens services in portage, but I think they do whole state. Ours was 2000, then 1000 later for post placement. We are still waiting, but they are soooo nice there! Good Luck!

Homestudy csts - save money
I'm from WI, but curently live in CA. We're going through an independent interstate adoption with AZ and our homestudy process is through the Departmt of Child Services. It only costs $1250. It is performed by a state certified worker. The local adoption agencies do offer this services, but they mark their costs up over and above the $1250 to make a profit. Seems pretty hefty for a referral! I don't know WI laws, but why not trying to call the Child Services Department or whomever is in charge of the WI State Adoption laws and see which department certifies the home studies. Maybe you can go directly to them through your attorney and pay them. Skip the middle man, aka, the Adoption Agency. It saved us thousands of dollars to do it this way in CA. Good luck! God bless.

WOW! Our agency in Nebraska is $1000 for homestudy and $500 for postplacement. There is another aagency that varies depending on your income from $750 to $1500 for a homestudy. Nebraska Children's home does not charge at all for its homesudies or any of its services and it is a private adoption agency! I guess we are fortunate here! I can't imagine spending 4 or 5 thousand for a homestudy! Good Luck!!
