We live in Spring Hill. I grew up in Olathe and I'm in town often. It's a great area!

Hi, we're still in research phase of adoption. That and the saving money phase. We probably will be in the saving money phase until next Fall. It's so hard to wait, but I'm reading all I can about the portfolio, etc and started gathering photos last night. I'm hoping the research and getting started on a few things will make the time go faster. Of course, then the wait begins to be picked! Seems like forever!!!

What was your adoption process like? I saw that you adopted a little girl. Congratulations!

Our homestudy was completed in December of 2002, we were chosen in September of 2003 and our daughter was born in December of 2003. Truth be told, our adoption process went very well. No complications, thank God.

Are you seeking an open adoption?

I would be more than happy to discuss our adoption our adoption in general with you more if yoiu would like.

I could also give yoiu the names of the professionals we worked with.

I would love to hear more about your adoption experience, as well as who you went through etc. Feel free to PM me with specifics.

We are interested in an open adoption. I've been looking at the websites of some agencies in Overland Park. I'm learning a lot.

Hi - glad to see some more Kansas ladies!

We still haven't signed on with an agency yet. It's driving me crazy, but we had some things get in the way. And now we are trying to save like crazy. Sometimes I think we'll never get started!

The agencies we're looking at are ABC Adoptions and Adoption & Beyond in the Overland Park area.

Hi there!

We are from Kansas too. We live near Wichita. My husband and I are in the research stage. We've sent out for info from domestic and international agencies so far but we are leaning towards domestic. Trying to get a feel for exactly how much money we need to save up for, and what kind of a time frame to expect.

If anyone has advice regarding finding an agency or attorney, feel free to send me a PM!

Hello from Overland Park

Hi there!
We just moved to Overland Park in November from Delaware (previously living in Wichita). We were working through an agency in DE that completes adoptions from foster care. We were chosen to be the family for a 13month girl, but then a paternal family member came out of the blue to adopt her. Anyway, we wanted to get started immediately in KS and it looks like we are on our way...
Would love to hear more about your experiences.
K

Hi there and welcome back to the area!

Have you been researching more local agencies or are you looking at more national ones? The agency we signed on with is in Overland Park. So far we've been really happy with them. Our home study was very quick once we got in all our info, and now we just wait. (I think I'm going to lose my mind.) They are a small agency though, so they encourage us to network on our own. I've been doing a few things, but no responses.

This is a great site to get info and ask questions. I've learned a lot!

We are using an agency in Andover (just outside of Wichita) which was recommended by a friend of a friend. They work with facilitators and we have officially been matched as of yesterday. We spoke with bmom over the weekend and really liked her, but we wanted to ask a lot of questions about the logistics and the budget since bmom in TX, facilitator in CA, and us in KS. Our questions were answered as well as they probably can be. There is still so much uncertainty as the baby is not due until early July. Lots of time to have a change of heart. I will just keep praying for a healthy baby to make it to our arms.
We do need to have our home study updated. The agency in Andover will do this, but I have considered using one here. Who are you working with?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I may have some ideas for you to network out of Wichita if you are interested.
