We are in a semi-open adoption, but have HOosier friends who are in open arrangements. All our past family and friend experience with adoptions were with closed situations, so we're enlightening a LOT of people about the more open arrangements many (if not most) people have nowadays.

We adopted through a private agency last October. Baby boy is now 9 months old! TIME FLIES! His birthmom requested the semi-open arrangement (we were hoping for open or at least semi). We send photos/letters to her every month or so to our agency. T hey forward them to her.

I just printed off more pics last week and need to get in gear and write her a letter this week about all his latest accomplishments and funny stories.

We had a scare a couple of weeks ago with an allergic reaction (HORRIBLE hives - I was scared to death it was a food allergy), and since we didn' t have a lot of medical history about allergies, I called our agency who called his birthmom and checked it out. She was happy to tell them that she and the birthfather have no known allergies. I was happy to be able to report to the caseworker that the hives were better, and to reassure her that the baby was fine, but she was concerned so happy to hear he was okay, and I was so happy to hear they didn't know of any allergies.

Would like to hear about your arrangements! You can always PM me, too!

Do you just have one child? I'm also interested in talking w/ people who have more than one child with different types of relationships with the birthparents. In case we have a #2, I just wonder if we end up in a more open or more closed situation, how that makes the children feel and how to handle things.
