Thank you, thank you. I am so excited. I have so much to get ready now that we know. It should move fairly well from here forward. Probably not quickly b/c their SW is always really swamped but she has said she would get this going. I will know more after the reading of their files. I am really getting nervous about attachment issues b/c after being in and out of care for so many years (all the little ones lives) I can't imagine them not having some heavy issues though the SW claims otherwise. We have been told, by our worker, it is a good idea to see an attachment therapist to do an assessment. All the kids have a recent psych evaluation so that should be interesting. Our worker feels their Sw has been very open but b/c I worry about undiagnosed attachment issues she is very supportive of specialized therapy and has made arrangements for us to do so.

Thank you, Kelli. I am starting to get upset with the kids SW, she has not sent out the files. It has been over a week and still no files. She claims she had them sent out last month and no one ever got them. She was supposed to resend them last week and yesterday she confirmed she has not gotten to it but promised to "get right on it". AAGGHH!!

I am Georgia as well just north of Atlanta and wanted to join in. I have a biological daughter. I experienced a locally failed adoption in Jan. Matched in Feb through a private attorney in FL. Due April 4th biracial boy. The anticipation is getting to me. Our due date has been changed 3 times already with the most recent change this morning.

I have had it! My worker called yesterday and asked if we would like her to pursue other sibling groups while we wait for that SW to send the files. We all agree it has taken TOO long and while she claims nothing is wrong and we are the only family for these kids, we are concerned it has taken over 2 months since the initial conversation to send the files. I am secretly hoping when the SW finds out we are looking at other options she will send everything immediately. We were under the impression that they would be here for spring break but it is looking like at least summer b/c there are only a couple months to go until school is out.
Meanwhile we are looking at 2 groups we were considering before this one came along. All GIRLS, a set of 4 and a set of 5. I just want to move forward, read the files and figure out which set is best for us. I don't care if it is a slow transition, just transition already! (I will need ya'll to remind me of that statement 2 months into visitation when I am crying about moving them in.) Thanks for listening! |

Friends of ours went to a seminar a couple of weeks ago that told them Georgia is the worst organized of all the states when it comes to fostercare. I just can't believe in all these weeks she couldn't send the paperwork.

It worked!! My worker called their SW yesterday and explained our position, she freaked out. The files were mailed yesterday. She even called to double check the address and to get us to commit to a time for the Staffing. The SW and her supervisor offered to come out by us for it. We were given a list of their weekly appointments, WOW. All of the sudden she is ready to go. We have requested the kids no tbe moved until school is out so we have until the end of May to finish the rooms. They estimate visitation will start in a few weeks.

Congratulations Tudu!
Did you get matched through the state office of adoptions? The thing I don't like about Georgia is that you never really know what kids are available. Everything is done behind the scenes by the CW's. |
