Private adoption means that no agency is used, just an attorney.
All adoptions in Illinois require a homestudy, with the exception of some step parent adoptions in some counties.

The cost of a homestudy varies - we paid $2600 for our private homestudy.
A homestudy evaluates the fitness of your home and family for an adopted child. You can contact any local agency in your area and inquire about the cost of their “homestudy only” programs.
