Colorado Agencies

We are in the beginning stages of adopting and looking into different agencies in Colorado. I would love to hear your stories or cautions. We are looking into domestic infant adoption. Please PM me with your thoughts.

Thanks for your feedback!

Congrats on your decision to adopt. I live in Aurora, CO. We have been trying to adopt over the last year and have not come close to be placed, we just switched from domestic infant to foster-adopt due to the "wait." This is what I wish I would have known a year ago... if you are doing domestic infant adoption, ask the agency how many successful placements do they have each year? (if it's like 13 then averaging 1 per month, if it's 100 see the difference), how do they advertise (i.e. internet or just phone book), is there an up front fee or are fees due once homestudy is started (i.e. fees due in stages not all up front), ask for a breakdown of "where" fees go?, what kind of support to they offer before, during and after placement (our agency offers unlimted throughout). What I learned is that the placement rate is very important but it ties in with advertising... i.e. some agencies advertise on the internet which drives the cost up that you will pay, however, others only use phone book and birth moms seem to be looking on internet more these days (this is just my opinion) but seems to be true.

Good luck and feel free to send me a private message if you want to know more!
