Adoption by Family Therapy of the Ozarks

They just moved downtown from Kimberling City and they charged $1000 ($500 at the beginning and $500 at the end) for a domestic homestudy.

For our first homestudy we used an LCSW out of Fulton and she charged us $1400. We later signed with an agency, Adoption Solutions, out of Jefferson City who charges $1200 for initial homestudy and $550 for updates.

I think the homestudy went just fine, and the case worker took us through the key issues that adoptive parents face. It was not only an effort to evaluate our ability to be parents, but a little bit of preparation for becoming adoptive parents.

We signed on with an attorney in Arkansas in November, homestudy was approved in January - so we are in the big wait.

We went through DSS (Webster County) but took the STARS classes in Springfield. Start of classes to foster/adoption licenses was 5 months, but everything was free. DSS has been helpful in contacting out-of-state agencies. Not sure how it would work for private adoption agencies. Good Luck!
