Anyone travel out of state?
I was wondering if anyone had traveled out of state for their baby and if so how long were you required to stay in that state? I ask because my husband would be allowed a week at the most because of his position at work.

Hi Tracy!
I replied on the "General Adoptive Parents" forum but just wanted to reiterate here that it really depends on what state you adopt from and to meaning how each ICPC office operates is different. We adopted our son through an agency in Utah and our ICPC for CT took 10 days total. I hope this helps and good luck with your journey! --Renee |

Hi Tracey~
OK two things we were going to travel out of state but our match fell thru soooooo........ I do know CT takes about 5 days to go thru. 2nd ... We are going thru catholic family services. We are not catholic but are Christian. If you have one or no children they will consider you. We have 3 children but started out in the process of a matched adoption so they were only doing our home study and once they found out how flexible we are(after match fell thru) they asked us to stay with them. They are great and charge on a sliding scale fee we are paying 7,000.00 for our adoption. I though this was reasonable. We are still waiting for a match our home study was completed TODAY !! hope this helps!!!!~Amy

Thanks for the help. We are using Wide Horizons. I don't think Catholic charities would help us since we already have two bio daughters and we are Buddhist. My husband decided that he could fly back home if it took a while and then come back where ever the baby is.
