Fostering kids with Down Syndrome?

I would really love to foster or adopt a baby or child with down syndrome.

Is anyone aware of any foster children in the state with down syndrome? I know it would probably be pretty rare? I've already told the placement people in my area....i just wonder if there are already kids out there with down syndrome in the state...or even out of the state that are in the fostercare system....or maybe even legally up for adoption?

If you want to foster, by all means contact your local DHS office and ask to speak with the adoption specialist for your area. She/he can point you in the right direction.

If you'll PM me the city and county you live in I can give you a lot more info and possibly tell you the exact person you need to speak with at DHS.

I am already a foster parent for Pulaski county in Ar. We've fostered for the last 2 1/2 years.

When we first started i told them of my desire to foster-adopt a child with Down Syndrome and they said the didn't know of any foster kids that had down syndrome at the time and it would be pretty rare.

I was just curious if anyone has heard of a child with down syndrome in the fostercare system...or if someone is wanting to give there baby with down syndrome...up for adoption through the system.

I'm sure they are out there....I just have never heard of any myself either. But it is something we would really like to have come our way.

Oh, I see. Sorry! It's nice to "meet" one of our foster moms. I think you guys are great. I am friends with several of our A.S. over the state and will keep you in mind.
