Question Private adoption in Colorado?

Is there anyone that can give me information on private adoption in Colorado? We have a possible situation and the prospective birthmom is in Arizona. I thought I had heard, somewhere along the way, that to adopt in Colorado (we live here) we would need an agency? Is this true? can anyone answer these questions? We are homestudy ready with an agency, and I will be calling them on Monday, but I thought someone here might know something also. Can I just hire an attorney here, and attorney in Arizona (for pbm) and do it that way?

Thanks.

Elaine - yes, you do have to have an agency do it. I spoke to several places when I started looking around. I was told that if you hire an attorney in CO all they will do is hire an agency as a 3rd party (behind the scenes) to facilitate it for them...so in other words they are the go-between if they are hired.

I have a couple good places that I can give you that can help facilitate an out of state adoption.

oh the other thing I meant to add is that I believe you can hire an attorney in the bmoms state and have the attorney (depending on those state laws) petition on your behalf to finalize in that state rather than CO.
