For those of you in Iowa who get KGAN Channel 2- I heard at 10:00 tonight there are two women who are anti adoption, raising a big stink- and they are having a segment on it.
I can't imagine why they would be anti adoption, guess we'll have to wait & see.
For those who don't "know" me, I usually post on the adoptive parents general board. I am 35, my husband is 50, we live just outside of Cedar Rapids. We adopted our daughter last December- she was 7 1/2 weeks old. Supposed to adopt her right at birth, but birthmom changed her mind, tried parenting for 7 weeks, then called us. Can't believe the big ONE is coming up here in 4 weeks- wow- how times flies.

Iam also around the cedar rapids area. I guess there was an article in the cr Gazette regarding this same issue. Something about one gave a child up for adoption and now is against it I think I guess I will have to watch just to see. Could be very interesting.

I must have missed the article in the Gazette- whenever
I pick up a paper, Annabelle enjoys ripping it to shreds, so
I usually just skip it. :-)

I'm curious what they will reveal on tv... Would someone please post back a summary and a review maybe afterwards? (I live in MS).

I know much about the anti's (they are not allowed here) but interesting that they are getting more coverage. If they are really bad, please PM me what they say? I'm curious. I'm also curious what impression they will make on viewers there, if any.

So, two women raise a stink, and get media coverage- all anti adoption. So, can THREE of us PRO adoption women raise a stink & get equal media coverage? I doubt it.
So, if they are against adoption, I wonder if they feel that birthparents should raise their biological children no matter what their circumstances are!?

Happy2Bhere that is what they think! Or that is part of their platform... I"m curious if they'll espouse THAT or rant about their past.

I certainly am not for that, too many bad parents in my neck of the woods. When your kid knows you don't care about them... will that kid grow up to be loving and productive? NO <rants a little>.

Welp, would you PM me what they say if it's not sayable here?

Well here is the long and short of it.


Iam a reunited adoptee and in the process of adopting a special needs child. I live in Marion.

It should be interesting to see if on the news they have someone that is an advocate of adoption I really dont want to hear just one side.

I hadn't heard anything about this story on the news but you can be sure I will be watching! I don't get it what do they think should be done with all these children? Do they think that they should just ignore them rather than have them raised by people who want kids? Maybe they are pro abortionists or something I just can't imagine what they could have to say.
I am a litle fearfull though because Iknow of a girl gave a baby up and then whined to the national enquirer that the a-parents were ignoring her { it was a open adoption and a famous a-parent} anyway she lied about the rest of her kids saying they all lived with her NOT the oldest has been raised by her grandma since birth the second is with her father the third and fourth are with an aunt. I just hope she is not one of them that is going to be on the news! anyway I'll be watching in Vinton!

Well, I was anxious to see this news special, but fell asleep. I told my husband to wake me in time to see it, but he thought sleep was more important. Most times I'd agree, but I REALLY wanted to see this.
So, did anyone catch it?

Yes I watched it and i couldn't believe what I was hearing! This woman said adoption was cruel to children! Then she went on to say how she had given up a baby 20 years ago cause she was more or less forced to and then gave another up 5 years later. Never did she say she wondered about them nor did she seem to have much regret it seemed to me that it was all about poor her.

Then they had anther woman who had been adopted into abusive family that said she wished she had been aborted! Like avery one that adopted children were abusers. I am still just dumbfounded over the whole thing.

Being adopted and adopting myself, the antis amaze me.

I had the best parents in the world, and hope to be nearly as good as they were in raising me.

I am dumbfounded by peoples ignorance.

I am from Michigan. Wish I could have seen the story.

our Case worker was here so I missed it at 6 and then by 10 DH and I were in deep conversation about what we should do foster/adopt..... I went to the site and read the piece on it which was alot like the news article. It makes me upset as an adoptee If I would not have been given up for adoption I would have stayed in an abusive family. So Iam glad I was adopted. Also being a hopeful adoptive parent this makes me so mad.. Oh I just cant believe this. I also saw that the other side of the story is on tonight, I hope I will be able to see it.

Ya, I read about this on an anti forum...they got on in response to a positive adoption story...LOL

Every cause has a following...but most people see the truth between the lies.

Dont let it upset/bother you!
