Interstate Adoption PLEASE HELP
If there is anyone out there with any info Please can you help me for a friend..
Here is what I know about the situation... I have a friend that lives in CA. she has been notified about a Bmom in Il. that wants my friend and her DH to adopt her baby. My friend does not have a homestudy. She would have to start from scratch...the very begiinning of the whole adoption process. Here are some questions... 1. Is there something the Bmom can sign that would enable my friend and her DH to take custody of this baby and get their homestudy and all the adoption process started and then complete. 2. Would they be able to take the baby from IL to CA? 3. Baby is to our knowledge healthy born 2 days ago how long will the baby stay in the hospital. 4. If mother does not claim this baby the state will take custody Right? Please anyone with any thoughts or answers please respond. Thanks

The Birth Mom can give the couple Guardianship of the baby. That way they can have the baby & then begin the process to adopt.
As far as the baby leaving the state, I'm not sure but the attorney who does the guardianship would know about that. Deb
