Hi
I am new to this forum , I have a lot of questions and need answers soo.. Here is the scoop I was aproched by a friend of the family who is now three months preg. She asked my husband 49 and myself 46 to adopt her unborn child or children as there is a possability that it could be twins or triplets they will be a mixed race Mexican and white which is great no problems there. I spoke to an attorney and she said by the time we have a home study and pay for birth parents atterney and her fees court cost and what ever else it will be $5,000.00. My husband and I are not welthy and this would be a child he and I could have never had as we do not have any to gether . The other thing is I suffer from CFS, (cronic fatigue syndrom) and Fibromyalgia . and am in the process of getting disability I know in my heart I can do this . But I do not no where to turn and this lady wants my husband and I to be the babies parents. She wants nothing from my husband and I as far as her bills . can any one give me some advice and if there is an attorney near the St. Jo Mo area that is cheeper and can help does any one know. |

DH was 46 when Ryan came - it didn't make a lick of difference with the home study or his birth family.
As to your health: The Americans With Disabilities Act protects paparents from discrimination. You will both however need to get physicals. Your doctors will need to state that you're able to physically and emotionally able to care for a child and that you have normal life expectancy. As to attorney cost, check with the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys - they keep a member list online (google it). Call around to several on the list in your area and compare fees, services, etc. You may find a wide range of costs. HTH, best of luck, Regina, AMom to Ryan Joshua Thomas

I was told by an attorney that the adoption laws here in Mo. are pretty stricked. thanks
