Does anyone have any info regarding "wrap around" services in IL? ie, respite care for special needs children, parent groups, etc?

It's my understanding that the quality and amount of wrap around services varies from region to region within the state. For instance, I live in central Il.....in a rural area. I can tell you that the services for RAD kids is pretty limited...or at least was a few years ago. As I understand it too.......finances within a region have a great deal to do with what's available too.
I also understand that to find out more, your local mental health office should be able to point you in the right direction. Who or whatever office is the principal 'gatekeeper' of the services.........gets with you and a panel that you select to talk about and give evidence of the services you need. (Similar to an IEP panel).
If you already have a therapist, this person would be a good advocate to go along with you to 'present your case'. I realize my info is vague...and I do apologize for this. We had considered 'wrap around services' for our RAD son.....until we determined that it was far too late for him---or us.
I will say, though...that just today......I met with our therapist (she's an attachment therapist with adoption preservation)......who informed me that there are now programs that will take a 'child' who cannot function within a regular home, and said child can stay within their program (given they agree with the problems)......for a long time. Perhaps even indefinately? This is separate from the Illinois Care Grant (ICG)....and requires the stipend you receive for the child or 20% of the family income each month.
Again, I was told about this just this evening. If you would like more info, please feel free to pm me.

Sincerely,

Linny
