My wife and I are infertile and have been discussing the possibility of adoption for a few years. Now that we are ready to make the next step, a friend told us that the State of Nebraska will not place a child with a person older than 35. I thought the norm was 40 years old. What are the rules?

The people that we've been talking to said the maximum age is 43. I'm not sure if it differs from agency to agency or by state, but I KNOW it's not 35.
