Domestic adoption
I was wondering if anyone here can help me. I was approached about maybe adopting their 14month old baby girl. I didn't know how that works if you already have a perspective child or perspective parents in mind. Do you just get a lawyer, does it take as long? What all would be involved?
Any info would be much appreciated... Shay

I don't know what your state laws are. We are adopting in a similar situation. We still have to have an agency homestudy, and we have an adoption attorney. I would contact an adoption professional in your area (attorney, social worker, etc) who can talk to you about your state laws. I would also suggest a counselor for you and the birthparents to help you all decide if this is the right decision for everyone.
