Indiana adoptive mom

Hello. I just recently found this forum and honestly didn't know where to begin...but, I guess this "local" forum looks as good a place as any!!

We are in Indiana. We have 5 bio children and adopted our two foster daughters who are now 8 and 12. We also adopted a Special Needs guy (He's special and we need him as my husband says) who is now 6...our bio children are 15, 12, 11, 9 and 7. Having a big family was always my dream...so, evidently dreams do come true!!

All of my children are in school all day now (what an adjustment that was), but I still feel strongly about being a stay-at-home mom!!

Anyone else have special needs children?

Welcome!

Welcome to the Indiana group! You must be one really busy mom! I don't have any special needs children, but thought I would respond anyway. I have two children through open adoption. Madalyn is 3 1/2 and Jack is 1 1/2.

hi
children need their moms even more when they are in school. I could remember how important it was and how much it meant to me for my mom to be there when we got home from school.

HI- I don't have a special needs child, but have a brother with severe disabilities. He is an adult now, but I spent a lot of time caring for him growing up so I have always sort of thought of him as MY child. (if that makes sense)

I was also a teacher for students with emotional disabilities before I became a stay at home mom. I have always had a place in my heart for those with special needs. (Although I believe we All have special needs in some way, right?)

I read recently that the time right after school is when most kids get into trouble. I think that it is great that you are staying home even though they are in school now. Its actually not that much time. Just enough to get the house and food ready for when they get home!!! (or at least the way I do housework it would be)

Take care, michele
