MAPP Training?

Hi everyone. We are adopting independently in Ukraine and getting our Home Study done at Catholic Charities. I had thought we did not need to have MAPP training, but the person at Catholic Charities seemed to think we do. Does anyone know? I didn't think this was a requirement for international adoption (or at least not for Ukraine). Has everyone here had to have this as part of home study? Thanks!

HI - We are adopting through Russia and do not have to do MAPP training - as far as I know MAPP training is if you were adopting through DSS. When I was checking around for agencies I had called Catholic Charities and was told they only work with school aged children - and I think they might sponsor the MAPP training. Maybe it's just a requirement of their agency? I know some agencies do require a parenting class. I would double check and ask why they are making you take it.

we're working on a latin american adoption, through catholic social services, and haven't been told we need MAPP training. It could be either their office's policy or maybe even the agency you're "holding hands with" in the ukraine?

Asking for more clarification is the way to go.

THanks for your help. As you said, it is not required for international. I think the woman I was speaking with was just unfamiliar with international adoption. Thanks again.
