I'm worried about all the fees. I already started the process and I was never informed about fees and being able to afford them. I don't understand why they would allow a person to start the process without finding out if you can afford the fees. The worker told me that It kind of depends on how much you make. Can anyone give me experiences with this good and bad. Does everyone have this kind of money laying around?

Nicki,
I am also in NY but am using an agency. I dont want you to take this the wrong way, please, but why didn't you ask up front what the fees would be? I just want to understand where you are coming from. From what I know about private adoption, the fees do vary quite a bit and sometimes lawyers do work on a sliding scale. With my agency allthe fees were written out before I even sent in my first application There are a lot of posts on saving and affording fees and junk that come up. I wish I could be more help, but I am not doing a private adoption. Alison |
