Beacon House

A lawyer in Il. recommended the Beacon House. Does anyone have any experience with this agency? Thanks

Beacon House

I am also interested in any information on Beacon House. If you've found out anything since your post, or anyone else has heard anything, please let me know. We have a meeting with them tomorrow and will probably put in our application.

How did you find the experience? Do you have an open adoption plan? Which SW did you work with 13 years ago?
Did you stay in an apt. or did you live close-by? One last question- Would you use them again?
Hope it was a positive experience for you.

Beacon house or the adoption? I was a scared 18 year old. The birthfather wanted me to get an abortion and i didn't. He didn't want anything to do with me or our baby. I didn't have a whole lot of options. My father told me that if i ever got pregnant, I could never go back home. So it's not like i had a whole lot of support on the home front. I saw an adoption ad in the paper and i called. I went down to Lousiana in November 1991. I am
orginally from Pennyslvania(about 25 miles from Gettysburg) I was 5 months pregnant and i met with Anne Hughes. She was the attorney for the adoptive couple. I don't remember which sw i dealt with. They supplied the appt. and such. I still have the homestudy from the adoptive parents of my daughter.
Mine was a closed adoption. I thought that was best- To give my daughter a clean break-so her ap would be her parents and give her all the things that i couldn't. She is my only child. I got my tubes tied when i was 27. It was the most painful experience of my life-walking away from my only child, but i'd like to think that it was the most loving. I hope that the ap take care of the gift that I gave them . I quess to answer your question yes beacon house was the answer for me.

Thank you for your open answers. I respect you for choosing life and for giving your daughter that gift. I'm glad someone was out there for you. I wish it didn't have to be so painful for everyone involved. I have been on such an emotional roller coaster myself lately. Sometimes it's too overwhelming to deal with everything but I'm hoping it all works out for the best in the end. Take Care!!
