Hi,

I am a student writing about adoption by alternative families. As a lesbian I am looking into this both for academic and personal reasons, as a potential adoptive parent. I am looking to get in tough with same-sex couples that have adopted or that are trying to adopt in the Chicago area. Any information I can get will be helpful. Thanks.

I am currently using Family Resource Center in Chigago. They tell me they have handled adoptions for same sex couples. Perhaps they can give you some names.

My husband and I are going to a information meeting next month at Family Resource Center. Can you give me your opinion about them and any other info. We are also going to The Cradle this weekend. We went to Center for Family Building last week, we spent $350.00 for a 3 hour one on one meeting. It turns out that a majority of it is about self marketing.

Hi Debra,

I just posted almost the same response in another thread so let me apologize to the people who've had to read this twice from me. I just started the process with FRC so I don't have too much to report about them yet. I already have a home study so I'm going in there with much of the preliminary work done. I can tell you though that the people I've spoken to have been very courteous and helpful. I will meet with a worker from the agency for the first time in two weeks. I am pursuing AA healthy infant adoption FYI. I will keep everyone posted as I learn more.

I am half of a same-sex couple. We are adopting through Adoption Link of Chicago. They have been great so far. We are a month or two away from joining the pool. They do many same-sex adoptions.
