Domestic Adoption

Hi,
I don't live in New Hampshire I live in Maine. But I'm not really getting any responses in the Maine room.
I see those posted here have been doing the international adoption . My family will be doing domestic probably from the foster/adopt program. We are interested in a child from any state.
I would love to hear from anyone out there that may have any advise or encouraging words. Thanks,
Liz

Hi Liz, We lived in N.H. and since have moved to Florida I have some info. please be careful, do you already have children? We had 3 boy's and wanted to adopt a little girl we went to state foster care training etc. we then went to Mass. had a placement for almost 1 year and had to back out terrible on the family, and the foster child it was a long story, the social worker withheld info. about sexual abuse and we found out after she was with us that she was abused that way. we told all involved we could not have that kind of background. I found out from the foster mother that adopted 2 of the girls sisters that the socail worker knew the info. and just wanted to give the little girl a home with a mom and dad, because the only couple that showed interest in her was a lezbian couple. we ended up going to a private adoption attorney after thet whole mess, and we now have two baby's we adopted and are very happy. (we have 5 children) It was expensive but we got them at birth and named them, and went right to hospital in Arizona and brought them home. the attorney is Margaret Cunnane Hall she is in Milford N.H. she may be able to recommend an attorney in Maine. good luck

Lara10000,
Thanks for your reply. I know we will have to be careful. It is difficult though but have decided we will not take a child older than our youngest. She is three. I don't think we will go the private rt. though because of the expense. It is very wrong that information was withheld from you. How old was the little girl? Maybe she could not tell anything and in that case situations about the older sibs should have been told to you.
I have still not gotten a placement. WE are getting discouraged since it is working on 6 months waiting now.
Will you adopt anymore?
Liz in Maine
