2 year old S/N in Atlanta for adoption
Dear Members:
A neighbor forward this to me and I'm posting here, hoping to find a home for this child. If you would like to know more about Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, please contact Dee. Since she has a child with the same medical condition. Please feel free to forward this message to anyone who may be interested. Cora ************************************************** ** Cora- This situation is heartbreaking and all I can think to do to help is to forward this info to you in hopes that you may know someone (with your experience and contacts) that might be interested in adopting a special needs child. I can describe Tuberous Sclerosis Complex to anyone that may interested before going any farther on this so they know what they might get into. Anyway, I just thought you may know someone that might be interested. Thanks so much, Dee (CJTriemer@aol.com) ************************************************** ** Hi, all. The following was brought to our attention by a family who have taken in 16 children (many with disabilities) and cannot take another child at the moment. It is a sad story, and I wanted to make sure that you knew about this little boy. If you or anybody you know is interested in finding out more about him, please let Joy Johnson know, as she has had direct contact with the family who knows about this boy. Joy's email address is jchj@bellsouth.net and her phone number is 770-932-8045 in Atlanta, GA. J_____ is a 2 year old caucasian male with TSC. It is confirmed that he has brain tumors, other tumor involvement is unknown at this time. He has been under neurology care at the Marcus Center. J. has IS type seizures, crying periods at times and is unresponsive post crying jags. He can roll, but cannot crawl or walk. Sitting unsupported is unknown. He takes a bottle, sippy cup and spoon feeding. His mother states that he can light up a room with his personality. His parents are young and separated. Currently he is under the care of paternal family member, 80 yrs old against the wishes of the mother. It is unknown if all his needs are truly being met, though EI services were coordinated for him. His mother did not release custody to this other family member and is seeking legal assistance to release maternal rights and put the child up for adoption. The father is not interested in parenting the child and the court could easily sever his rights due to his background. The mother is willing to pay adoption fees. The mother is looking for a home to immediately place the child in once removed from the other caregiver. She will sign power of attorney and give temporary guardianship to the persons taking the child in until the adoption process could be completed. Or she is looking for a foster home even if the persons are not considering adoption at this point. The main concern is to have him placed with someone who will care for him and meet his needs appropriately. It is feared that this child could fall in DFACs services and would become a ward of the state with institutionalization.
