Can anyone recommend WACAP?

Hi - My husband and I are in the very very beginning stages of considering adoption. He is 45 and I'm 34 and we would llike to adopt a healty infant of any race, but the younger the better. I have been interested in the WACAP agency, and was wondering if anyone had heard good or bad things about this agency.

Also, I'm wondering if people have a sense of which would be better for an infant adoption - idependant or agency based?

Thanks - I'm still very new to this!

WACAP

Hello:

I am familiar with WACAP and can tell you, I've only got good things to say about them. My husband and I are wanting to adopt a child from Russia, and have done extensive research on Russian adoptions and WACAP. They are one of the most well known, and well respected adoption agencies around. There are several articles on the Seattle Times website. If you want to search their archives, just type in "WACAP" and several articles will come up. They were also featured on Entertainment Tonight. If you call them, they will give you a free video of that segment of the show.

I can't encourage you enough to pursue your adoption interests with this agency. Whether you decide to go with a domestic or overseas adoption, they are the best! If you havn't already, you might take a look at their website .

WACAP was very high on my short list.

I attended an information meeting and met 2 families that used WACAP for adoptions from China. I was very impressed.

I did not choose WACAP because I'm single and that left me on a long waiting list for China. And WACAP didn't have a program in the country I chose.

But, I only had good feelings about them.

The agecy that handled my adoption was WACAP and I have nothing to complain about so far and I'm going to be 18 here in a few weeks. I was adopted when I was 2 months old. So if that tells you anyhting. Good Luck with your new baby when you adtopt him/her.

Also looking into WACAP

Hi. I am a single woman hoping to adopt a newborn. I have been looking into WACAP as well. Would be interested in any info you have to share. I am especially interested to know if there are any single women out there who have been successful in adopting domestically through WACAP and the length of their wait.
Thanks!

Katrina

More questions

I am not so clear on what exactly is forbidden to write about so I am putting this in a separate post....

I am also quite concerned about the large variance in the placing agency fee...I know you can't respond here about that...but I would be interested in knowing about anyone's experience or further research into that...

It isn't necessarily a confusion as much as a concern. I am looking into the US infant program and the fee to the placement agency is posted on their website as varying 15000, depending on the placing agency...

Good luck with your adoption! I, too, won't be ready until next year as I am finishing up my masters degree.

Hope this was OK to post!

Katrina

i think the moderators dont like to let people post about fees but maybe thats ok. thats kool that you are finishing up w/ school before starting. i admire people who put things in order and get organized.
we have one bio kid who is 4 and we are foster parents.... currently fostering a 9 year old. we want older kids and we hope to adopt a sibling group. hope to hear more from you and good luck!
