Demastus

We just adopted through Demastus and know of two other couples who have used them. All three went through with only minor problems. Problems which could be solved with a little prayer and a little patience.

Overall, we were pleased with their service.

Let me know how it turns out!!!!

May God's Blessings be with you!!!

Can you send me a private message and tell me more about your experience? We are listed with Demastus now. Did it happen fast for you? Were you impressed by their staff, etc.? Thanks!

demastus

I used Julie for an adoption over 5 years ago and have referred many folks to her. My best friend just adopted her 2nd child through Julie 3 weeks ago. Her office is run top notch. I consider her operation to be more of a ministry than a legal office. However, please realize each adoption is different. No matter what, there may be many ups and downs during your adoption process and you just have to buckle in for the ride.

We were matched with Demastus after being listed only six weeks! Her staff is amazing. The pbmom we're matched with is very happy and we have already developed a fantastic, open relationship with her! I highly recommend Julie Demastus!

Very pleased with Demastus

We used Demastus to adopt our son who was born Dec 17, 2003. We did not seek them out, we were using an adoption networker to help us find a child. She called us and let us know that there was a birth mom who was really wanting to meet us. We were hesitant at first because had already had 3 failed adoptions through another agency that we were getting ready to give the boot to. We were matched with our birth mom about 7 weeks before she had our son. Everything went extremely smoothly for us. We could not have asked for a more wonderful staff. The birthfather had signed before we even met our birth mother. Our son's adoption was finalized 4 months and 2 days after his birth. I especially loved Tina Peot who handled our adoption. She was so kind and willing to go out of her way for you. Julie is a very nice person but she is very business oriented and very much tells it like it is. If that works for you great. Our adoption costs were about $5,000 dollars more than we originally were wanting to spend, however it was well worth it. Demastus has fees for their side which are reasonable. What really adds to that is birth mother living expenses. That was close to half of what we spent.

Good luck! When we decide to adopt, we would strongly consider using Demastus again.

Glad to see another great experience with Demastus! We had a great experience there. We loved the staff there! Especially Sheila...who worked closely with our daughter's birthmom. And we really liked Julie, too. She is very business like, but kind of just has a dry, witty sense of humor about her...once the relationship warms up, she is a crack up! She is highly intelligent and a true adoption professional. The hospital where our daughter was born required *me* (totally strange?) to be wheeled out in a wheelchair...so there was Julie Demastus...big time attorney, pushing me in the wheelchair while I was holding our beautiful daughter and my hubby was carrying other stuff. We all had a big laugh over it and we all were in tears over such a joyous moment.

When we started, we were told average wait was around 9 months and average cost was between 25 - 30,000. We were matched within 2 months and from match to birth it was 6 months (although we're still waiting on finalization). Our adoption cost about $30,000. Pricey because they do so much advertising and because of the level of service they provide to the potential birthmothers (which is why we chose them...they put the potential birthmothers FIRST...which is the way it should be) and also because of how liberal OK is with paying for pbmom expenses.

I had emailed them, about there wait and how many clients they currently had.
Below is the email I had gotten back from them..

Currently I am working with about 33 couples, 10 of which are gender
specific.
Our fees are $20,000 plus about $2,000 misc. Anything above that is
birth
mother living expenses. So I generally tell couples to plan on the a
total
adoption to run somewhere between $28,000 to 34,000.
We would love to worki with you. I try to have a turn over of a year
or
less, however it doesn't always work that way.

Good Luck!!

Buffy

Ok agencies

I spoke with several agencies here in the Oklahoma City area today. Two of them told me that this year had been slow (ie. fewer bmoms coming in) and no signs of anything picking up. Another agency told me that they are not accepting any more couples b/c they have so many unmatched. Have you guys been hearing the same thing? We are thinking of using one agency in TX and one in OK to maximize our potential to get matched. Anybody else worried about a LONG wait?

Have any of you looked into Crisis Pregnancy Outreach in Tulsa? They are a Christian agency and are wonderful. Check them out.
