Anyone want to share notes on adoption in Washington

Hi,
My husband and I have gotten our homestudy complete as of 3 weeks ago. We are planning to go with an independent adoption and are now on the road of getting our lawyer and advertising. We are in the Tri-cities area and were wondering if anyone had some tips for our search. We'd love to talk and share ideas!
We'd be happy to hear any replies or get any emails!
carriewoman1977@hotmail.com
Thanks!
Carrie

Hi there,

We are on the other side of the mountains in Puyallup. We have not completed our homestudy yet, we have just started it actually. We looked at doing a domestic adoption through a facilitator. We are pretty sure we are going to be going with Lifetime adoptions, but still have a couple other things to look at, not really anything much but still something to consider if it comes back significanty cheaper. I don't really know of any ideas we could exchange since we are using a facilitator. But I just wanted to respond andwish you luck! I think you have a better chance in that area of Washington than we do over here as far as finding an instate **. I just don't think that in our area it would be succesfull to do an independent adoption. Well good luck and keep me posted on how you are doing.

We are up in B'ham and are on the finalization stage of our adoption. We adopted through a facilitator in CA. It has been amazing and the only downfall is that we'll have to go to CA to finalize as WA doesn't allow bmom expenses, etc (that we did pay).

I'd be happy to give you any info you may need- pm me and I will help!

We are in Bellingham, too! Our daughters were adopted at birth in 2001 through a private agency in Idaho. We finalized in Washington later that same year. I don't know much at all about the Tri-Cities area, except we were stuck in the snow there on New Year's Day!

Congrats on finishing your home study!

Smile Here in Marysville...

Hello fellow Washingtonians!

We have just begun the process to adopt through Antioch Adoptions in Redmond. We are one class away from completing our PRIDE training, and from there it's yet a long road. A long but wonderful and worthwhile road. We have two children, both adopted at birth in Canada (we are Canadian transplants to the US, and loving it!!!!). "Wide open" adoptions (as one of the social workers at Antioch puts it) with both children's birth families. We look forward to the addition of our little one! It's nice to see other people from Washington talking about adoption!!

All the best to all of you!

That's great new Maka!
I am happy for you, we had thought about Antioch adoptions and called them about information but unfortunately they said that they could not help us because we are not "Christian" as they out it. We are Catholic. lol What ever that means. But still I am very excited for you.

HappyTwinsMom,
I am also happy for you! It is great to know that people so close like most of you are so close, or already done in you venture to grow as a family with adoption.

Good luck to evryone
