Hey! There are a few of us adoptive parents from Mississippi around here. I know of two others that post with me on the Guatemala board.

Where in MS are you? Have you adopted a child or in the process of adopting? My dh and I live in Brandon with our son that we adopted from Guatemala this past year.

My husband and I recently moved to MS and are about to start the journey of adoption. We had been foster parents in another state for a while, but we think we are going to pursue an international adoption this time. Would love to talk to others that have gone through the process.

Hi......We've been living in MS for 2 years now. We want to adopt, but are still trying to figure out what country he will be from. It doesn't matter to us what race he is, but since we live in such a small town, he may feel like too much of a minority if he's too different. Maybe not, but it's just something we worry about. Any thoughts out there?

We are excited about planning to adopt internationally. We really want an Asian baby girl, but do not meet age requirements in China and have not found an agency that will let us adopt from Korea in this state. We have lived in Mississippi for all of our 25 years! DH and I have been married 3 years this May. I would love to talk with anyone from MS that can share their international journeys with us. We looked at Guatamala too, but we really want a girl and it seems you have a better chance getting a little man there, but I could be wrong. We have just begun our research, so I am by far no expert or anything!

I work in Jackson but live closer to Hattiesburg....that drive is a nightmare

Hello neighbors!

I just joined this forum today. My DH and I live in Cleveland, MS (about 1/2 way between Memphis and Jackson).

We are just about to embark on the adoption journey. I'm 37, he is 40. He does have one daughter, but I am unable to conceive.

This is a very overwhelming process! I am surfing now, trying to find out exactly WHERE to start! We are looking to adopt from within the US due to costs.

Hello everyone,
I'm also from Mississippi. My husband and I adopted a precious baby boy. Fortunately, we did not have to go through an adoption agency. We knew the biological parents. The adoption was finalized July 03. He is now 16 months and the biological mother wants him back. Do you think this is possible, because they both terminated their parental rights. Any words of encouragement would really be appreciated. I am about to fall apart.
