We used Angel Adoptions in Cary Illinois this year. We contacted them before Christmas of 2002, and received a call in January of 2003 before we even got them our profile together. We had been working with a different agency for a couple of years and got scamed by them. However, we were pleased that Angel wanted paid after placement and after sign off of parents. So, we met birth mom February 1st in Chicago, baby was born April 14, 2003, a beautiful AA baby girl. I think it went fast for us because we are a caucasian couple willing to accept anything as far as race and sex. I was concerned that they might be placing us before other couples because we were "new money" to them, but they had no other couples seeking full AA infants at the time, and the new money thing didn't apply because no one gives them money until the child is placed!! Our fees were 5800.00 for Angel, and $1800 for Lutheran Child and Family Services (the licensed agency) and $2300 for the attorney. It was pretty smooth. The mom had public aid that picked up birth expenses, and the mom didn't ask for any other money. The hospital experience was really terrible, but the agency or the attorney could do nothing about that.
