Unhappy Arizona Adoptions

WE WERE GOING TROUGH (AASK) AID TO ADPTION OR KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TO O OUR HOME STUDY. WE HAD ATTENDED 21 HOURS OF CLASSES AND WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT ADOPTING OLDER CHILDEN,AT LEAST TWO POSSIBLY SIBLINGS. WE ARE 47 AND 53 WITH EXCELLENT HEALTH AND COME WITH EXCELLENT RECOMMENDAONS. WE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE FOR LONG TIME AND DECIDED THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO BE PARENTS AGAIN. WE GOT A CALL FROM AASK INFORMING US THAT WE WOULD NOW HAVE TO WAIT ALMOST A YEAR TO HAVE OUR HOME STUDY DONE BECAUSE ARIZONA HAS A NEW STATE COMMISSIONER WHO REQUIRES THAT YOU HAVE TO BE MARRIED FOR AT LAST A YEAR TO QUALIFY FOR THE HOME STUDY, HOWEVER, YOU CAN BE SINGLE AND THERE IS NO WAITING TIME TO START THE HOME STUDY. WE DON'T GET IT?

that sounds ridiculous! What is the commish afraid of ---a new marriage won't work out and any kids will have to get used to a change around the house? What about single parents marrying? As if that doesn't involve a change in the family unit....

Write the commish's office and get some answers!

I've been trying to find out how it is possible for a family court judge to also be a commissioner of anything, let alone adoption. My understanding was you cannot hold two or more jobs with the state. How is it he is going to fulfill a full time job as a judge and a full time job as a commissioner. Is there a conflict of interest here? I work a lot of hours, but 80 a week?
