Colorado Adoption Agency?
We live in Colorado and are just starting on the adoption process. Any recommendations on an adoption agency? There is so much information out there and it's a bit overwhelming.
Thanks, Heather |

You could call and ask the Colorado Adoption Exchange if they have any helpful information, their web url is:

Co adoption agencies
Hi, we lived in CO Springs for awhile. We went though Catholic Community Services there. We only waited 6 weeks before being placed. We were in a training class of 5 couples and all of us were placed within 6 months. Good luck!

CO adoption
One other question for Sylvester - you mentioned using Catholic Community Services. Do you have to be Catholic to work with them? Or in general, are most birthmothers that come to this agency seeking Catholic families with whom to place their infants?
My husband and I are Christian but of a protestant denomination. Thanks again, Heather |

Hi. We live in Colorado and have had three quick and successful adoptions through the agency Small Miracles. They are located in the Greenwood Village area in Denver. We were with another agency (now out of business) for two+ years, they did absolutely nothing! When we changed to Small Miracles we had our son within 2 months, we thought it would take longer the next time... it took 3 weeks from update of our home study to have our second son placed. With our daughter, who joined our family last summer, it took about a month. All three were healthy newborns. We did not care about race and this might have speeded things up, however, most of the aparents that we met at the meetings throught Small Miracles had adopted Caucasion infants and the average wait time seemed to be 4-6 mo.
Hope this helps, I know how confusing it all is at first. 3inCO |

CO adoption
Thanks for the info! I've heard great things about Small Miracles. I think they are a bit high for our budget so we are leaning more towards Adoption Alliance and Adoption Options.
Anyone out there worked with either agency? Thanks again! Heather |

Has anyone heard anything about The Adoption Homestudy and Training Agency? I found them thru Qwestdex.com and was wondering if anyone had talked to them or used them...Their website is www.adoptionhomestudy.org. Thanks!

herb-
My husband and I are adopting through Adoption Alliance. They are totatlly awsome and we love them. We turned in our paperwork February 18 and on April 10th we had a beautiful baby boy. (After three bio daughters!) We can't wait for his finalization in November so we can do it again. Hopefully a sibling group this time. Melanie Tem is our worker, and Barb Moe is the director. They have become like our family now. We live in Parker. |

Oh, and one other thing, about Adoption Alliance.........I know a lot of agencies charge an arm and a leg for their services. From start to finish for us with Adoption Alliance, it was about $1900. We will get half of that back at finalization in November.

Liz, we actually live in the Roxborough area in Douglas County, but I grew up in old Littleton not far from the older part of Greenwood Village.

It's beautiful out there. We looked at some houses in that area a while back but ended up going East instead of West.
How old are your children now? |

Our oldest son is 7 our middle son is 4 and our daughter just turned one this month. How old are your kids? How many more are you hoping to adopt? I think we are done...but I thought that after our second son and then I started to get this overwhelming feeling that we were supposed to adopt at least once more.

Becky,
We have three biological daughters: 19, who is in her own apartment in Greeley and attending UNC, 17, and a senior at Ponderosa High School this year, a soon to be 9 year old) and our soon to be adopted son, Max, who will be one on Friday. I hope to adopt one more, but I can't decide whether I'd want a boy or a girl, SOOO I decided that a sibling group would be nice! I was adopted as an infant myself and my husband spent time in foster care when he was a young boy. So it all seems very natural to us. |
