Boren and Boren

Does anyone in this group have any experience with or knowledge about the Boren and Boren Law Group for adoption services? Would like a direct reference if possible.

I don't know about them. My social worker works alot for Julie Demastus, and I asked about her, and my sw said that she has never heard any complaints from any of the people that my sw has worked with for her. I am working with Kerr and Kerr. They are much more inexpensive, but they don't do the advertising that Demastus and Boren do, so the wait could be longer, but their client list is short. I wish you lots of success no matter what route you take!

Smile Adoptions lawyers

Hello, I'm new to this forum. My husband and I are wanting to adopt, are from OK and saw the two posts about Kerr and Kerr and Boren and Boren. ARe these attorneys in Tulsa or Ok. City? We have been researching adoption agencies and are just now looking into possibly going through attorneys. Can you give more info on how they work? THanks! We live in Tulsa.

Boren and Boren offices were searched today by the police and records were removed. I don't know all the details, but they are being investigated for child trafficking. It was in our newspaper today.

Exclamation

I have a few things to say about the Boren's especially after what I saw on the news this evening.

I went to their office during a very hard time in my life October of 1996, I was a couple of months pregnant and in an abusive relationship and really needed help.

The support I was given was given by Rebecca and Robert was tremendous over the next 7 months of my pregnancy and for months after.

I grew to know them quiet well, as they stopped by my apartment often as well as by other birth mothers who lived in my apt. complex. I have also visited their home on a few occasions. They are two of the most selfless and giving people and wonderful parents themselves.

I met a couple my first visit and decided they were going to be the parents of the baby I was carrying inside me. I knew from the second I saw them, they were her parents. I became close with them during my pregnancy and formed a nice friendship with them. I haven't seen my daughter in 7 years since she was a day old except for in pictures. I feel comforted knowing she is with loving parents and having the life she deserved that I could not give her at the time.

Rebecca really deals with the adoptions more and Robert more the other family law. She was very supportive of me, but of course never pressured me into giving my child up for adoption. She wanted me to do what I thought was right.

The parents of my baby were pleased with the Boren's as well and were just so happy to have a child of their own.

I can't imagine these allegations being true at all. I don't think they would ever "sell" children.
Rebecca and Robert are so full of love and for helping people become families. I am wondering what these allegations are really about and with who (they said specific cases) and wondering if like their attorney said its potential parents who did not do what they needed to do and did not complete and adoption.

In May of 1996 I went to the OKC court house to sign the adoption papers the day after I gave birth to a beautiful red haired baby girl that had my eyes and nose, the baby I held so close to me for hours the night before.

We had to wait for our appointment for a couple of hours, and Rebecca and I took lunch together. I was nervous and scared and Rebecca was so supportive to me. As we sat there eating she told me what a good person I was and how my future would be bright one day (It is, I am a mother of 2 happily married for 5 years and owner of my own business!)

When I was in the judges chamber signing the papers my hands shook and everything turned blurry like a dream, but when I was done I vividly remember Rebecca telling me that I had courage and she was proud of me. She got me through the day, not because it was her job, but because she was a person who cared about me.

Believe it or not, this has been a very hard letter for me to write not just because I am so upset about these allegations against two of the best people I have ever had the privilege of knowing but because I don't tell many people I gave a child up for adoption because of the basis opinions of people in this world.

More times than you may imagine I am looked down upon for doing so. I am called a "bad mother" or just a "low life" type of person. I did what was best for a child, I helped her not only have a family she deserved, but I also helped two wonderful people have the daughter they deserved.

Not a day goes by I don't think about her and her smile and the sound of her cry. However, I will NEVER feel guilty. I will never regret the decision I made to give her the life she deserved, that I couldn't give her at the time.

I honestly think if I didn't have the support of the Boren's during the hardest time of my life, that I might not be alive today because of all the feelings I had during that time in my life. I also wouldn't be the person I am today, a good mother to two wonderful children.

I support the Boren's and will continue to support them forever.

I have "come out" and spoken about this despite not speaking about my situation much in the past because of the judgment people place on me. However, if it can help Rebecca and Robert in any way then I am glad.

Rebecca was right that day in the courthouse, I did have courage that day and as I write this I am still proud of myself.

Police search law firm
2003-11-04
By Diana Baldwin
The Oklahoman

Oklahoma City police removed files and computer equipment from the law offices of Robert and Rebecca Boren for seven hours Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into the couple’s private adoption practice.
Boren & Boren: From the Archives:
• Cultures collide in adoption fight </cgi-bin/show_article?ID=1111157&pic=none&TP=getarticle>
• Lawyers disqualified in adoption case </cgi-bin/show_article?ID=1111158&pic=none&TP=getarticle>
• Oklahoman Archives <http://archives.oklahoman.com>
A search warrant affidavit names at least 58 people, many who are birth and adoptive parents, as clients and possible victims of the Borens, Sgt. Charlie Phillips said.
Officers were looking for evidence to support alleged violations of the Oklahoma Corruption Organization Act, conspiracy to commit a felony, trafficking children, forgery, extortion, obtaining money by false pretense, embezzlement by attorney and falsifying corporate records, Phillips said.
No one has been arrested. The Borens’ secretary was detained briefly when officers raided the law office about 8:30 a.m.
Mack Martin, the Borens’ attorney, said he expects the Borens to be cleared of all allegations. He said the Borens have agreed to work with the district attorney.
“We have two hard-working, honest, well-respected lawyers who have helped hundreds and hundreds of adoptive parents and who have worked hard to make sure that children are appropriately and legally placed in the community,” Martin said. “We have a complete exonerating explanation for every one of the allegations.”
Glenna Henderson, one of the people listed in the affidavit, told The Oklahoman she was shocked when police called in August wanting to know about the Borens and her infant son.
In 1999, an Oklahoma County judge disqualified the Borens from representing Henderson because the attorneys were representing both the adoptive and birth mothers simultaneously. Henderson claims the Borens used fraud and duress to obtain her consent to give up her baby boy.
Martin said the Borens are familiar with the names in the affidavit. He said many of the allegations have already been cleared by a court or the bar association.
Police have been aware of allegations for several years, but it wasn’t until three or four months ago there was enough information to obtain the search warrant, Phillips said.
Police searched the Borens’ offices and the attorneys’ storage area in the First National Center.
“This is just the beginning,” Phillips said. “It will take some time to analyze everything. This will take longer than a normal investigation.”
Robert Boren, who has been an attorney for 20 years, wrote on the firm’s Web site he has handled more than 1,000 adoptions and adoption-related cases. Rebecca Boren has been an attorney since 1991.
The state attorney general, the Inspector General and the federal Department of Health and Human Services are involved in the probe, Phillips said.
Police are asking other victims to call the investigative units handling the case, white collar at 297-1238 or child abuse at 297-3431.

Oh just so you know that is an AP copyrighted article you posted which means it can't be copied in any form.

I hope anyone who thinks they may be a victim of the Borens uses the police number, although if they have been under investagation for years I would think they know of all the cases.

I also hope people know they are good people and have helped many many pregnant women and adoptive parents with families.
