We adopted through Villa hope. The children were in an orphanage called FANN. The children were very well taken care of. They attach to their caregivers which makes the children have no problems with attaching to their new families. Noreen

Where has everybody gone? Is there anybody here waiting to travel to pick up their child? Anybody thinking of adopting from Ecuador? It has been way to quiet since this board has been active. Lets start it back up!

We are waiting for our referral from Ecuador. Our dossier was submitted in September 2002. We started the whole process in February 2002, but INS took a very long time (5 months). So now we're just patiently waiting and seeking any information about adoption in Ecuador possible

Hi you are going to love Ecuador! The wait is long but when you see your child the wait will be worth it. What agency are you using? We used Villa Hope in Alabama. Our daughter was from FANN in Quito. Any questions I can help you with feel free to ask.

Hi again,
We are adopting through Children's House International in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have requested either an ecuadorian or african-ecuadorian child, so we have been told we may be going to the Esmeraldas region. If you know of anyone who has been there, we would love to learn more about it. But we have also been told that we could go to Quito, Cuenca, or Guayaquil.

Hi Yes you do need to travel when adopting from Ecuador. You ususally need to be in Ecuador for 4-6 weeks. I have heard of some families that have made 2 trips but most stay for the whole process. Sometimes they will allow one spouse to treturn home while the other stays in Ecuador.
Why are you having such a hard time with Guatemala? What agency did you use/

I just wanted to let you know there is another site for Ecuador adoptions you might want to go to. It is at Holt International forums. There are some waiting families that have posted.

Hi Jaclynsmommy
We are using an agency from South Florida (where we are from) and they have been wonderful we just have a birth mother who does not care and decides when she wants to cooperate and when not to the latest incident happened on Feb 19th when she was scheduled for her interview with the family court but decided to go to her mothers for the day instead. We got lucky when family court rescheduled for a 3/10 date and this time the lawyer is going to pick her up himself and bring her so we will keep our fingers crossed. I thought about Ecuador because I have a cousin who is married to a wonderful man from there (they live in Ma now) but it is just not possible for either my husband or myself to be there for that length of time since we are both on commission jobs. We wish everyone who is in the adoption process lots of luck and happiness. Jill and Steve mommy and daddy to Zachary born 7-25 |
