Chile: sibling groups and gender preferences

Does anyone know if Chile has sibling groups available for adoption? Or if they allow for gender preferences? How recent is your information?

Thanks.

From what I understand, Chile does not allow adoptions to the US because of the Hague. My sister lived in and volunteered in an orphaange for a year with the most beautiful, amazing babies and kids and we were told that unless we were from Chile or another country that had the agreement, we couldn't adopt from Chile.

From what I understand, Americans can adopt from Chile, but they are at the bottom of the list for "preferred" parents. In La Tercera, a Chilean newspaper, recently had an extensive artcle about adoptions. There is now another entity, along with SENAME, that facilitates adoptions. The promotion of Chilean domestic adoptions is a new focus for these two groups.

We looked into adopting from Chile about 2-3 years ago and spoke at length via telephone about the process with someone from SENAME. We are revisiting the issue, as it looks very unlikely that Guatemala will reopen. Our two children are Guatemalan. DH is a Chilean citizen and we are able to be in country for the 5+ week requirement for the court dates.
