There has been some interest in Peru but I haven't seen a good post about the process. Lots of people asking the question but few people expressing their history/experience. If you hear something, please let me know!

I'm not sure if I can be of much help, but we just started the process of adopting from Peru. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM!

Congratulations. It sounds like you've made a great choice. We ran into trouble with Peru. My husband and I are 41 and 42 and we were hoping to adopt a child under two years of age. We were told that in Peru we would only qualify for children older than three. We were disappointed, but I guess it wasn't the right choice for us after all. Have you heard about these age restrictions? Our ages actually ruled out a lot of the Latin American countries. Best, Ann |

We actually ran into the opposite problem when researching Latin American countries in that we aren't old enough! So many have the minimum age at 30 and my husband and I are both 28. Also, many require being married for 5+ years and we've been married 3.5 years. Peru is one of the only we do qualify for.
I have heard about the age "tiers": how your age determines the age of the child you can adopt. Seems a bit arbitrary to me, but I guess they have their reasons! Have you found another country that you're looking into? Leila |

Hi Leila,
Yes, we're gravitating toward Korea and India now. Not sure yet which we'll go with. We like China, too, but the wait for a child can be up to two years there, which is just too long. We considered Eastern Europe, too, but the FAS stuff scares us. Let's keep in touch as we move forward? Karen |
