Our El Savador Adoption
My husband is on his way home from visiting ES. Our agency arranged to tour two orphanges there. This is almost unheard of. He was speachless to describe it.
He told me a little boy sat in his lap during the visit, he was quite taken w/ the little guy. He is hoping the little guy is the one we get to some day take home. He spoke w/ our in country rep: our paper work is in country and being reviewed. They are expediting it because of the age we are asking for (5-7 little boy). Don't have any dates yet but still excited. ![]() I will write more after he is home and I have more details on what it was like to be there and about the children. Jody-Ann |

about the trip to El Salvador
My husband said the country side was beautiful even though it was not the rainy season. Then, he was told, everything is a greenish blue. There was a lot of trash along side of the road.
The difference between the "have's" and the "have not's" was shocking. The city of San Salvador was modern and "westernized" but just out side of the city were tin homes with out running water. The first orphange he visited was nice. They had chicken cooking and fresh vegetables were being chopped. The landscaping was also very nice. They had running water. In the second orphange things were not as nice. It was clean but not as polished. They had less to work with. The children were clean but there was no running water. The toilets did not work. For a donation from our adoption agency they asked for beans and rice. A co-visitor brought toys her daughter gave up (including Mc D toys). The Children were thrilled with them. They played with the children. My husband was quite taken with a little boy who sat on his lap. The boy was 5 years old, in the same age range we are looking for. |

Jody-Ann-
Thank you for sharing. We have recently applied to an agency that has an El Salvador program. We are updating our homestudy, and have an appointment for a psyc. eval. next week. We would like to adopt a toddler this time and were told we were probably looking at a good two years in process. Please keep us posted on your progress. ![]() |

We started 17 months ago. We originally were going to adopt from Russia but changed countries this past November. I hope we are close, I hope we bring our little guy home by the end of the year. El Salvador has had so few adoptions it is hard to fore see a definate time line.
