Ecuador??

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about adoptions in Ecuador?? My husband's family is from Ecuador and we are interested in adopting from there, but can't seem to figure out if they are even allowing adoptions. Anyone know anything about this??
Thanks!
Tammy

hi tammy
if you live in the US and are adopting in ecuador be sure you are using an agency that has a licence to work there. there is a us agency in alabama that doesnt have a license to work with ecuador and im told accepting applications. they have children they assigned over 2 yrs ago that still arent home. also at least for the US the new laws in ecuador state only children over 4 and special needs can be adopted internationally. i have heard the laws in canada and other countries may be different. have you read all the post about ecuador on this board, it doesnt look good. btw we have a great support group called ecuador-adopt@yahoogroups.com feel free to come join us if you have any questions.

Hi Tammy,

My husband & I are currently in Quito, Ecuador finishing up our adoption of a sibling group.... a 2 yr old little girl & her 1 yr old brother. They are healthy & absolutely adorable. There are other adoptions going through right now as well, so I know there are still agencies working here.

From what I understand, most of the international adoptions from here are children with special needs. However both of our children are not, and there is another family here adopting a toddler boy, and he is healthy also.

The country is very beautiful! And the people are very nice! I will warn you though... the process is complicated. We were only supposed to be down here for 3 weeks to go before the judge & finish up the paperwork, but we have now been here for over 5 weeks. Apparently we got the most difficult judge, and he doesn't like International Adoption, so he is dragging his feet.

But like I said, it's a wonderful country otherwise. And Anayeli & Jordan (the children we are adopting) are worth the wait. Hope this helps!

Good luck!
~Miranda

I bet you must have judge Duran.
are you by chance working with falicator Manuel rizzo?
i am so happy that you are with your boys. your process in the state has to be the quickest i ever heard . we were in quito for 6 weeks completing our adoption in 2001 and back then that was considered quick. best of luck!
