Have you adopted from El Salvador
My husband and I were thinking possibly or going
to El Salvador (if we go international) and after talking to many different agencies we decided that El Salvador would be the best for us. Has anybody gone through adopting in El Salvador? Please email me and tell me your experience. Was it pretty easy? Any unforseen problems with their country? How long did it take you to get a referral from El Salvador? What is the youngest aged child brought home? Well any info would be great Thanks for you time Dee Genesis9t8@aol.com |

El Salvador, here we come
My husband and I are going to begin the process of adopting from El Salvador in about a month through Open Door Adoption. I would love to have another couple to compare notes with throughout the process. Let me know if El Salvador is still your first choice. Wendy

We started out with ES and are also going with TOD. We have had our dossier in Es since 12/02. No activity but it seems like things are stirring. If you are willing to wait it seems like it would be okay. But 6-8 months of "nothing" was too much for me and DH. We are working on our first kid.
If we would've known that it was that slow and unpredictible we wouldve gone to another country right away. God bless your decision, Julie |

We are prepared to wait. Barbara has informed of of the huge delay (appx 12 mos. at present). I'm sorry to hear it has been difficult for you and your husband. Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I think we will be alright with it as we have our four sons to occupy our time. I'd love to hear from you when you receive your referral. Did you request a boy or girl, or were you open to either? I'll be praying that the rest of your adoption runs swiftly.

In our year (almost) we never recieved a referral or were approved to adopt. That seems to be changing and we would be approved in December. When we would be matched would've been another story. We have a little girl waiting for us in Guate and cannot wait to get her (maybe Jan?) If often told my DH that if we had other kids it would fill our time (obviously still hard).
So I agree that it would be easier on you. Hope all is well. Keep me informed of your progress as we are dropping ES as of yesterday. Barbara can give you my private email julie |

Julie, Congrats on your little girl!! Was this a referral Barbara offered you? I'm assuming you're still with TOD? I will get your e-mail address from Barbara today. I'm anxious to hear more about your adventure. God Bless.

We are in the early stages of adopting thru TOD in ES. We have been in contact with the U.S. embassy there. Their input was not encouraging, however, I believe that their information was probably the worst case scenario (18-24 months). There's not a better case worker than Barbara. She has been THE answer to our many questions. The paper work is comparable to about 10 house closings. However, you can get through it. We should have a dossier in to ES within 30 days and our wait begins. I believe in my heart that we have been led to ES. Whatever time it takes, we will wait. There is a little boy, perhaps already on this earth, that knows not of our family. He has no idea that we will come and have him become one of our own. He will be chosen...much like the Lord choses us to be in His family.
Blessings on your decision! |

Hi Matthew,
I'm excited to hear of your leading. Please know that 18 months is not far off. We have had our dossier in ES since 12/02. Yes I would agree that it was worse than buying a house (as far as paperwork goes). So far we may get approved in November and then matched "soon after" and then travel to get our child. So I would equate that to 18 months. We just couldn't wait and now we are anxiously awaiting to get the call to go to Guate and pick up our girl. I pray that you will have the "Gods best" boy put in your life. I wholeheartedly agree that Barbara has been so great. She is a true nerve calmer Julie |
