With so many programs closing down, I've been thinking about the fact that there are less and less options available to us. VietNam, Guatemala, Russia and Kazakhstan are all closed or on hold. We have 3 bio children and would like to adopt a child as young as possible, preferably under a year old. Does anyone know which options we still have available? Thanks in advance!

Kaz is open, it only closed for a day and even then not really. How about Kyrgyzstan? We have a friend who is adopting an infant boy from there and received her referral almost instantly. Or South Korea? Depending on your age it can also be a great program.

Russia is open...and a baby under a year is possible...especially a baby boy.

Vietnam is open through some agencies. Some have stopped accepting applications, but I know of at least one agency that is still placing children. There's also Taiwan and the Phillipines.

I am definately not an expert-just what I have been told...is that children from the Phillipines are usually about 2 yrs or older. More toddler range there, but it looked like a great country to adopt from. We almost went there, but our hearts told us China.

Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Ethiopia are open. Russia and Kazakhstan are open. Some people are adopting from Taiwan. Some people are adopting from Colombia, though the time frame is long. Some people are also sticking with China, despite the long and uncertain time frame.

Our friends adopted their daughter from the Phillipines and waited almost 4 years for a referral and Ella was about 2 when they recieved her referral. She is beautiful. they also adopted a son from Korea and a daughter from China. Their oldest son is a bio child. This is one of the family that really set our heart of going to China for Kennedy. I know the wait is long but we are sticking with China for Kelsi. The children there have a better history and since we have BTDT already with great ease, we chose to go back. The children are usually young and healthy as possible.

You really have to go with your heart and what fits into your family and time frame!
