Looking for information on adopting from Turkey

I am an American woman, married to a naturalized Turk. We are interested in an international adoption from Turkey. We are looking for anyone with experience or knowledge about Turkish adoption for advice on the matter. We travel to Turkey often, so maybe we should use a lawyer in Istanbul? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Look at travel.state.gov. and Turkey, under country specific information. It looks like only 4 orphans visas were issued in 2001 for Turkey and none since then. You may want to consider another country.

Hi. I posted my own message regarding Turkey before I noticed your post. I am in a similar situation -- I am half-Turkish (but an American citizen); my husband is not. There's a very helpful response from Sharon to my message that you may want to check out. I would love to adopt from Turkey since I am a Turkish-speaker and spend lots of time in the country, but looks difficult. If you find out anything else I would love to hear and I'll let you know if I get more info.

We have found it to be too difficult to adopt from Turkey, unless willing to live in Turkey for a year. We have decided to investigate Kazakhstan, since it is a neighbor of Turkey and the ethnic background is similar.
