A couple of suggestions
Please can I recommend...
How I was Adopted by Joanna Cole. This is a lovely book, the best I have read so far. At the end it encourages children to tell their adoption stories. And, Beginnings - How families come to be by Virginia Kroll. This is a collection of stories that cover all sorts of different ways an adoption can take place. Each story is told by the family concerned and reads like a conversation. This is a good book also.Thanks. |

I was just thinking about books I could get the other day. do you have to order these online or can you buy them at a bookstore like Barnes and Nobles. Would they have childrens books like these together?

Most books are available at Amazon or any other online bookstore ... and since thats the only way I buy my books anymore
I have no idea if a real bookstore would have themA WONDERFUL book for older child adoptees and new siblings is "Emma's Yucky Brother". My kids LOVE this book and it talks honestly (in a child friendly way) about behaviors, attachment etc.

Our favorites were already mentioned. We like "A Bleessing From Above" & "Little Miss Spider". Thiose are the favorite ones we read the most. Also, we love the video TARZAN" also. Especially because our children are AA & Biracial. I like the way it tells that because we look so different our hearts still beat the same & I love you NO MATTER WHAT!

The Day We Met You is one of our favorites
AND I love the line from Little Miss Spider: "For finding your mother there's one certain test, just look for the creature who loves you the best" 2 years of reading this and my husband and I still can't get through that line without tearing up. Happy Reading |

One of our favourite adoption books is called "Did My First Mother Love Me?". It is a beautiful book which explains to a child why he was placed for adoption and that yes, indeed his Mother loved him.

One of our posters here on this forum has written a wonderful childrens book about adoption.
"Who Am I" By Stacie Cahill, her aka on here is Stone. I just got the book this week and our whole family LOVES it. I think if you find her on this forum she has a link to get to her publisher.
