Where to start. My wife and I started the process of getting approved for adoption about this time last year, we have our forster license, our homestudy is done... Basically we are ready to adopt.
We got a call about 3 hours ago from our social worker, they have matched us to two little girls one is 17 months and the other 2 years old. Ohhhh my wife and I both are soooo nervous, we are meeting the social worker and little girls tomorrow at 4:00pm... We are veryyyy excited, but a little afraid... not because we are unsure of decision to adopt (I am adopted, so its not an unusual event) but what worries me is that I am very quiet and reserved and I don't want the social worker to think I am uninterested or I dont want the children to think I don't like them. I am just unsure what to say and a little afraid I might intimidate them, I 6'-1 and 300 pounds, although everyone who knows me, knows that I am a gentle giant. My wife and I both want kids sooo much... I just don't want to screw up the first meeting it being so important. Anyone have any ideas? I have always know that I would adopt, being adopted myself I have to repay the debt. I have wonderful parents and a great extended family. Thanks Sorry to be so long with this. |

Relax and be yourself. You didn't say where you were meeting at but sitting on the floor might help with the size issue. this is such an exciting time for you. I'm sure you'll do fine.

You'll do fine! The caseworker surely knows a little about you from the homestudy (in that you may tend to be reserved); and having gone through two of these situations myself, being 'reserved' is often the best way to be.
We were always told to not be 'overly anything' when meeting the children for the first time. (And gee, with such little ones......THIS WILL BE HARD!!!!!!!) But you'll do fine. Just keep us all posted!!!! Sincerely, Linny |

I can't wait to hear how your first meeting goes. Be yourself. Enjoy the meeting and let us know what happens.
