I must have missed something. You said you talked to "him" but... who is "he"?
Sorry for being dense. |

I've talked to Bobby Mills but I don't want to just go with the first person I talk to and he is the only one in Raleigh. So I wanted more suggestions.
Thanks Marfrey I know how special you are. |

I'm also looking for a lawyer. Does anyone know of one near Statesville/Charlotte area? Going through the phone book is like throwing darts at a wall.

I would assume that when cdawson says AAAA that she is referring to the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. You can look for adoption attorneys all over the nation! Their website is www.adoptionattorneys.org. Or, you can go to www.AdoptionDirectory.com and search for "Adoption Attorneys" in "North Carolina." Either one is a great resource....

You can try Randy Marsh, he is with Marks of Grace AND is an attorney also, you do not need to have been matched with one of their birthmoms to retain him and I believe his fees are very reasonable too.
Try www.marksofgrace.com or 423-727-5148 Good luck Jennifer |

He is very familiar with ICPC. The have alot of out of state adoptive parents and knows how to handle things.
It is so hard in some of the states trying to find attorneys who do not have high retainers and hourly rates, a friend of ours is trying to locate one in MD and any of the ones who are within their budget are not fully aware of what is involved with ICPC. My best wishes to you for a successful and happy journey for all Jennifer |

I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy. I can find my way around the net. It may take me awhile but I get to where I need to be. But for some reason I went to AdoptionDirectory.com, put in NC and got nothing. I must have done something wrong.
Thanks Jennifer I think I'll stop by marksofgrace.

Cdawson, glad to see you got what you needed. Isn't it great how sometimes posting your needs gets good results. That is awesome and what a support group is all about!!

I second that one...... this is what support groups and forums are all about, helping each other and being there for each other when we need it and believe me at some point we need all the support and help we can get to help us through our journeys.
Yes Randy is very nice and knows what he is doing and Lisa at Marks is pretty good too. Glad I could be of help. Jennifer Never give up for dreams do come true....... in His timing |

Here is the direct link you get if you choose "North Carolina" and "Adoption Attorneys" from the first two pull-downs menus at AdoptionDirectory.com: http://www.adoptiondirectory.com/res...neys&x=37&y=15 There are two attorneys in Charlotte listed there. Hope this helps!!

Side note re: ICPC problems
If you run into problems w/ICPC, don't be afraid to contact your Congressman about it and to rattle cages with Social Services in Raleigh. North Carolina is one of the SLOWEST states in pushing the paperwork, yet the NC statutes require you to get your ducks in a row w/in a short period of time.
In my case, everything was in place except for a piece of paper verifying that I got verbal permission to come into the state w/my son. I had to contact the VP (or equivalent title) of Social Services to get the paperwork finished. Once he was notified of the bottleneck, he got the paperwork finished w/in 48 hours. (Imagine that!!) I also contacted my Congressman about the delay in getting my son's birth certificate issued. He intervened on my behalf, and the birth certificate was fast-tracked. - Faith |

Never be afraid to pursue what you want with a vengeance (well, unless what you want is illegal or hurts someone else, that is).
