Adoption in Texas

Hi, we did our last adoption in Texas. We used Buckner Adoption and Maternity Services in Dallas. You don't have to live in the Dallas area, they work with aparents and birthfamilies from all over the state. We were in a training group of 8 and all of us were placed within a year, give or take a couple of months. We found that they are one of the "cheaper" agencies in the state. We paid $12,000, they charge a flat fee, so there are not extra expenses along the way. They have a loan through them that will allow you to finance some of it. We waited 7 months and hope to go through them again for our third baby!! Everyone is very supportive, trustworthy, and will keep you informed. You do have to be an active Christian family to work with them. Good luck to you on your journey. There web site is www.buckner.org

Smile Agency in TX

HI, I'm in Houston area. We used Catholic Charities in Houston. We had no problems with them. They kept us up to date through every step of the process. They seemed to have a good ratio of bparents to aparents. They work with a sliding scale. 15% of income, 10,000 min, 25,000 max. Anyhow, we were matched within a week of being profiled. You don't have to be Catholic. Hope this helps.

Gladney

Hello, I wanted to comment on Gladney. We have some family friends who are older, by no means are they too old to be starting a family, they had contacted Gladney and not only were they one of the most expensive agencies in the state they told them they prefer to work with younger white Baptist couples!!! I know they have a long standing history and I am sure there are some people who have wonderful experiences through them, but come on comments like that are not helpful nor necessary!

Go to Buckner!

I had said in my other email Buckner was great!!! I am not sure, but I think a special needs baby, which includes children of African American origins, is around $5000. I know when we were working with them they were pushing families through who were willing to accept biracial becuase there was such a need for them. Last I heard they have more birthmoms than families, so you should check them out!!!

Abrazo in San Antonio, TX - A+++++++

Hi,

We are working with Abrazo Adoption Associates in San Antonio Texas and they are just wonderful. I can't say enough great things about them - very, very compassionate people. They've been so supportive and just gone way above and beyond since we've been working with them.

We chose to work with them because a very good friend of my mom's daughter & son-in-law adopted their son through Abrazo and had a great experience. Their website is www.abrazo.org and I would be happy to give you more info on our experience if you're interested - just send me a message.

Best of luck to you,
Lisa
