I too had heard wonderful things about Bethany and we were excited about the possibility of working with them, but will not be.

This is why - my husband is in the military and has limited control on his time - he can get away for a match meeting, birth of a child adn follow up legal requirements. HOWEVER, altering his schedule for an orientation meeting is not possible - Bethany REFUSED flatly to grant us any leeway, would not schedule a separate meeting etc. Another military couple we spoke with a different branch of Bethany was told their frequent moves made them "unstable" - huh? - SO we went with a different agency...one that is more willing to work with us a bit. AND I think an agency who can be more flexible with its adoptive parents, will be able to be more flexible (and understanding of)its birthparents.
