I've waited long enough to share our amazing news!!
Our Little Dude (LD) was born 17-days early on January 27th and we already cleared ICPC today. We are flying home to Colorado tomorrow! We are over the moon, only day dreaming about sleeping again. He's thriving big time. He weighed 5.01 when he was born and lost ten percent of his weight and wasn't released until five days later. He is noming on baba's constantly and up to 5 pounds 4 ounces. Nearly nine years after starting to try for children and we made it. Love to you all and I'm so glad that I waited not only for TPR but for ICPC to clear to tell you all. I didn't want to jinx anything! Now any tips on first flight with a tiny newbie?

Congratulations! Wonderful news.
C was almost 3 weeks old when we flew home. I kept him in the wrap carrier and he did great. When you check on the TSA website it will tell you you can't keep the baby in a front carrier on the plane, but I never had any flight attendant tell me I needed to take him out, so I didn't. He slept the whole time. I have also discovered that sitting in the back of the plane is the best spot with a baby. The noise seems comforting, and most people want to sit as far forward as possible, so you're more likely to have extra room to spread out. One flight we ended up being the only people in the last 6 rows, and basically had our own flight attendant! |

CONGRATULATIONS!!
I will contradict the previous poster, but when we flew (and we flew 6 times before DS was two years!) we always checked in and asked for the first row behind the bulkhead. We got it every time with one exception. It is great because it has more leg room than the other seats do. And you can use the closet in front of you to store extra stuff- the fligh attendents will help. Plus the attendants love to sit and make silly faces (doesn't really apply to the newborn, but they were loving the baby time!). Plus, you don't have to haul everything down all the rows of people and back up...that is exhausting. They will also let you board first with the "special needs" passengers so you can get settled. (If you're holding the baby keep him by the window to avoid germs, bumps, and nosey people!) Change the diaper before you board. Have a bottle ready as you taxi out so that you can start feeding. The sucking helps their ears stay open and adjust to the pressure. Of course, if the babe is sleeping, LET HIM BE! ![]() Have 2 extra outfits in the carry-on because you never know. We never had to move to outfit 3, but we DEFINITELY needed outfit 2 once!! Keep the baby comfy- not too hot, not too cold. A blanket to swaddle in flight if he likes it. Otherwise just enjoy. He will probably sleep through the whole thing- but if he screams his head off, it's all okay- most people are understanding. Once again- CONGRATS!!! ![]()

Congratulations Sunday
Have a safe trip home. As for the airplane ride, the attendant can warm up a bottle for you if need be and i would swaddle him up in his blanket in case you get into air turbulence. It will reduce the feeling of falling.

I believe that it is a combination of years of experience from raising a large family the first time, a little bit more money in our pockets, and a lot more time on our hands.
