DD is 16 months old and having the surgery tomorrow - what should I expect afterward?

My son had it almost 10 years ago and he didn't really have any after effects. Maybe his mouth was sore but since they did it with a laser, it wasn't bad.

DH had it done a million years ago...they probably used a dinosaur bone as a scalpel

He said he was just sore for a few days, but other than that, nothing.

Hope things go well for your sweetie.

My ds had this done when he was about a yr old. He had tubes inserted in his ears at the same time.
As for recovery, it wasn't bad at all. I just gave him some Mortin to make sure he wasn't in pain.
The big thing I want to warn you about is when they wake up from being put to sleep. All kids are different, but it's very common for them to wake up in like a panic state. My ds was freaked out completely. He wanted me to hold him, but somehow I was supposed to hold him WITHOUT touching him! Very weird!
My youngest ds had a scope test done a couple of months ago and his reaction was better than ds#1. He was cranky and only wanted ME to hold him, but he wasn't nearly as "wild" from the drugs than ds#1 was.
Like I said, all kids are different. Just make sure you ask the Dr's if YOU can be there in recovery BEFORE she wakes up!

Good luck! It's not as bad as it sounds.....

Feeling - this is EXACTLY how she woke up - yikes - it was wild!!! LOL We're home, she's eaten a little bit (puffs and yogurt melts) and drank some pedialyte, and went back down for a nap after she tried to stand up and walk around and fell backwards and bonked her head on the wall... it's been an interesting morning so far!

Thanks, everyone! I'm hoping she'll wake up from her nap a new kiddo! LOL Of course, that's a big hope :P

She was already trying to say "kitty" this morning before her nap, so I"m hoping this will jump start her speech, along with therapy
