way OT: School testing vent

Ok, so as a speech therapist, I usually have more leeway with my schedule during the week then teachers do and all that....being at one school really helps because I have a great rapport with all the staff and I really feel it helps out even more with my speech/special ed. kiddos...and not to toot my own horn, but at least the teachers are confident that if a kid has speech he/she will be pulled out consistently or seen in the class at the time that is scheduled and in compliance with the IEP....

That being said, I hate DWA week. (district wide assessment)....I can't pull out my kids on my schedule during testing (which one would think would be a blessing...) and it really messes with my schedule, not to mention my afternoon speech kids will get speech because they are done with their tests and then the morning speech kids bicker and whine and complain that they didn't get their speech time....sometimes I'm able to pull out bigger groups, but sometimes it isn't possible and then everyone is in a bad mood. oiy, I hate dwa's...I'll be glad when this week is over....and yes we have them 4x a year AND state testing in May.

Ok thanks for letting me vent....anyone want to add any school type vents????

I have similair issues. I am a graduation counselor/ career counselor. I have to pull my kids out all the time and make sure they are on track for graduation. During testing times I an unable to pull anyone. It backs my schedule up and then the kids thinks I have forgotten about them.
