I thought this was a great story. I really like Nia Vardalos, but I especially like her husband (I was a huge Felicity fan).

Obviously I'm biased towards this topic, but seriously...it IS a great story!

I especially liked the fact that she doesn't cut down on other choices out there, she had some ethical concerns about cutting someone waiting for years off the list because she's a celebrity, and really like the fact that they kept it all under wraps for a year so that her daughter could adjust and they could be a family without scrutiny.

I agree great story. Although, she has a lot of incorrect information in there about the adoption process. Still, I would rather have someone hear a positive story so no complaints from me!

I had heard when she 'came out" and said she and her husband adopted from foster care, but since I didn't hear anything else...I kinda knew that she had gone through the same process as typical people did.

I'm glad this story affirmed what I first thought. I think she and her hubby have class!

I am blown away! posted it to my FB profile i loved it so much. I want to know more about the transition experience!!! I hope she writes a book or at least more about it in magazines etc.

Makes me admire Madonna for making a huge effort to adopt little Mercy and David. Better than writing a check so you can throw your celebrity around and have a 3 day wait!

I hope she writes about her experience to open society's eyes about the joys of adopting from foster care but hopefully not too much about her child's background and those details. I'd hate to be that child, kwim? I post on here about things without my kids names etc., but if I were in the public eye at all, I'd never do that. But part of me agrees with you Storm..it's a great story to be able to hear and would love more of it.

Great article--but note that it first came out 10 months ago (last Jan). I like how they kept a low profile and then only really made it a big deal in order to promote the FC system. Yay!

she talked about her adoption exp briefly on a morning show while doing promo work for her last movie, she's awesome I love her and her work!

I think she'd be a fantastic "face" for fostercare, no offense to Rosie O and all the great awareness work she's done...but her tough in your face style can be intimidating and even distracting at times.

The baby tree 3 day wait thing for celebrities doesn't surprise me...there are a few out there that seem to have woken up one day thinking "hey, I think I'll get a baby today"....and wahla, baby. ugh.

I remember watching an episode of the newlyweds a zillion years ago where after spending a day with a friends baby JS was hemming and hawing about adopting first THEN having their "own" baby. Busy schedules don't allow for pregnancy yah know. *bleh* thank God he got her a dog.

i just saw that in my adoptive families mag. the thing i think it cool is that, as much as i love to see people's kids, she doesn't show hers off. i like that she is willing to share, but still keeps things on the DL.
