halloween scare films
Seriously why is it that when someone is being pursued they always run upstairs?!!
I don't like any bloody and gory films but some of those suspenseful ones or disquieting ones I can get interested in! The shining had me wierded out for days the first time I saw it. It was just on cable recently. And Injun Joe from Tom Sawyer was pretty scary (totally unpc I know, sorry!) Then slightly more recently was 6th sense and skeleton key. Oh and Angel heart. Another one that was a scary concept I think was called the ring. silence of the lambs was something I would rather not have seen (too sick) but still had extreme suspense! Especially that part with the night goggles. I guess I haven't seen many movies lately (OK, none) but these are some I was thinking of. What are the best horror/scare/suspense films you know of? |

ROFL!! Sorry, I don't watch horror films, but this made me laugh out loud! I watched a few when I was younger, and it was always the same. If there was a young woman in the house alone at night, the phone would be cut, then she'd hear a noise down the hall, and would venture down to find out who was there. Very logical! ![]()

Heehee...I know, I would run right out the front door, but it didn't save the poor girl in the beginning of Scream!
I still can't watch or read the book of The Amityville Horror; it is too much like some of my hallucinations I've had...the voices, the blood coming out the walls, ergh! I really like ones where you have to figure something out, like the Sixth Sense. I want to see The Fourth Kind when it comes out. It is about alien abductions but looks really good. Also Paranormal Activity. I love all the Poltergeist movies, and I really love The Haunting in Connecticut but don't ask me why. I bought it one day and then couldn't find it and bought another one and now I have 2 copies of it, LOL! I used to love all the Nightmare on Elm Streets but after the first couple, they seemed too repetitive or something. Blessings, Michelle

I don't watch them, I am too impressionable.
Just a gentle reminder, please don't let your young ones see any of that stuff. I cannot tell you how many kids I get in my office that are having nightmares, hyper-vigilance and phobias due to seeing this stuff. It really can be traumatic to kids with concrete thinking.

The Grudge was really scary. I was freaked out for weeks after watching it.

One I watched but can't seem to watch again is the Blair Witch Project. If I remember correctly it was based in Maryland and I live here in MD so... it kinda took me a while to go out after dark (mind you I was a teenager then). Also Thirteen was an interesting movie it really freaked me out but I have to see movies to the end.

For me what I don't get is when someone is in the woods( or in a house), and they hear something, instead of running away they keep go INTO the woods (or into the other part of the house) to investigate...does that make sense?
Anyway, the ultimate scary movies for me were Halloween ( the whole series part I, II and III) and Friday the thirteenth ( you can tell how old I am). -Manni Last edited by manni28 : 10-27-2009 at 06:43 AM. |

I don't do well watching any scary movies, but Blair Witch scared me to death. I still cant go into the woods with out being freaked out. I tried to watch it again last year with DH and DD but we shut it off half way because I was a nervous wreck.
The Amityville Horror is another one that scares me. |

I remember one night when I was around 19 a group of friends and I had a sleep over party where we feasted on chocolate and caffein and stayed up all night making fun of all the Freddy Krueger movies.

I love scary movies! Not blood and gore really, but the suspense and actual true fright! One of the scariest movies I saw was "The Candyman", don't think that one has been mentioned yet.
I think the thing that scared me the most though was Stephen King's book "IT". I saw the movie later and thought it was lame. The book truly freaked me out! Usually what cracks me up with the "running upstairs" and INTO the woods thing is every time you see a couple making out and more, you just KNOW they are going to die.

mondk, Paranormal Activity is along the same lines as Blair Witch, but with a LOT LOT LOT of boring parts. IMO, Blair Witch was intensely terrifying. And now I feel like watching it again! LOL
We went to the theatre to see it, and I made dh stop at Blockbuster and get Weekend at Bernies for me to watch while he drove our sitter home! It totally wasn't my fault - we lived in the FIRST house in a brand new subdivision, so it was basically our house in the middle of the woods on a dirt road!!! |

Crick, IT is the scariest movie of all time. I absolutely am petrified of clowns (hmmmm...I wonder why?!).
I like horror movies too...but more ones that are "suspenseful" as opposed to gory. Like I think The Sixth Sense was one of the best (too bad that director hasn't made another good one since!). The Shining....classic. |

It always made me crazy how in the movies when some monster is beating up on the boyfriend the girl will just stand there and scream. I keep thinking either pick something up and hit the monster with it or run away!

ROFL! That is sooo true! Love - Stephen King can scare me more than almost any movie out there. He's just awesome at that. I did like the movie The Shining...Jack just made that one.
